Teresa Overcash-Hollmeyer: Mosaic Artist

Mosaics are my passion, my way of creating, my therapy.

Growing up on a farm, I spent most of my childhood outdoors. I remember creating collages from sticks, rocks, and pieces of old farm machinery even before I knew what mosaics were.

I am a self taught mosaicist, starting out with glazed tiles and concrete forms for the garden and patio. Some years later I discovered glass and my hobby turned into my art. Glass offers incredible color and texture that I have not found in any other medium. The majority of my work is glass on glass mosaics allowing natural light to become part of the creation. I am inspired to do other mosaics by found objects, whether it is an old cabinet door or a beautiful bead.

Even after many years of creating mosaics, with each finished piece I learn valuable lessons that will help me with my next. I find inspiration for my art around every corner of life.
