Matt Hooker

Matt Hooker is a native Bostonian currently living in Charlotte, North Carolina. During his senior year in high school, the first oil painting he'd ever done was shown in a Boston College senior art show. Over ten years later, the self-taught artist started selling paintings primarily through the internet and is living a long time dream; an existence supported by and for artwork.

Since October 2006, Matt's work has appeared in various Boston and Charlotte-area publications, studios, galleries, businesses and marketplaces. He has also traveled the country to create custom pieces for clients, mostrecently to render a large-scale permanent installation at the Culturahs Gallery in Chelsea, Massachusetts.

"I take the most joy in being a medium for people who aren't able to render their ideas with oil on canvas. Bringing an idea to life for someone with a commission is always a great feeling. Providing hand-rendered goods in an age of mass production is important to me. Commissions are more than pigments on a stretched canvas. You help people express themselves."
